Workshops before and during the

Inverness Fringe
Festival 2026

28 September – 4 October

At Inverness Fringe Festival we’re not just putting on shows — we’re building skills, confidence and community.

Our workshops give you the chance to explore new creative territories in a supportive, no-pressure environment. Whether you want to step on stage for the first time, sharpen your writing, move your body, or mix a set, there’s a place for you.

All workshops are open to people of all experience levels unless otherwise stated. Places are limited so we can keep groups small and the quality high.

Viv Gee Comedy Workshops

Fancy a laugh? Do you think you’re funny? Would you like to try stand-up comedy?

Everyone has a story to tell and everyone has the ability to make people laugh.

Stand-up comedy workshops are also a great way of improving confidence, self-esteem, communication skills and general well-being.

The course will cover: - writing your own material, comedy structure, stage persona, comic timing, microphone technique and performance skills.

The workshops will be led by comedian Viv Gee whose past students include Richard Gadd, Mark Nelson, Jay Lafferty, Susie McCabe, Des McLean and Des Clarke.

Attendees will be paying to attend all dates (19th/20th/26th/27th September) 12pm - 3pm each day
Performances will take place on the 3rd of October during the festival

Viv has performed stand-up from L.A to Bangkok and has numerous TV and radio credits including The Comedy Undergound, The Stand-Up Show and The Good, the Bad and the Unexpected for BBC. Dance Workshops

PCK Dance Company present a special opportunity

The Inverness Fringe and PCK have teamed up to present 2 very special workshops facilitated by Highlander James Pett and his partner Travis Claus-Knight.

Our first event is for more advanced dancers wishing to expand their range of dancing.

Our second event is for beginners of contemporary dance styles who wish to experience the first steps to developing their skills.

DJ Workshop with Mark MacKenzie

Learning to DJ can be a complicated and daunting task on your own. Skip the weeks of trawling through online tutorials and guides, and learn everything you need to know about getting started with this in-person workshop.

This is your opportunity to get hands-on with various types of DJ equipment (including turntable and digital setups), different genres of music, and formats, so you can get a feel for what works best for you before you think about investing in any costly equipment.

Get answers to questions like: ‘How do you learn to beat-match by ear? How do you create smooth and creative transitions between difficult tracks? Where do I buy my music? What do all these buttons do?!’

As well as hands-on learning, you’ll receive a brief lesson about the history of the art and how various styles and purposes of DJing came to be, including some background on the local music scene and DJ culture.

This is DJing 101, and then some.

(This workshop is for over 16s)
